The Legal Aid Society Sponsors Constituent Services Training

The Legal Aid Society's Civil Practice will provide constituent services training for members of the New York City Council and New York City members of the New York State Senate and Assembly, and the U.S. House of Representatives, and members of the U.S. Senate and their staffs during the next few months. The October 27th training session will be held in Manhattan. The first session was held in Brooklyn in July.

Manhattan Constituent Services Staff Day October 27th

The Manhattan Constituent Services Staff Day will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 9 a.m. to noon at The Legal Aid Society's Harlem Community Law Office at 230 E. 106th Street. This training will highlight the work of the Civil Practice's Harlem Community Law Office and the Lower Manhattan Office.

Adriene Holder, Attorney-in-Charge of the Civil Practice, and members of her staff will welcome the group and provide an introduction to the work of the two offices. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., there will be training on the major issues facing Manhattan's low income individuals and families such as housing, benefits, immigration, employment and family law. An overview of intake procedures and client rights as well as a guided discussion on next steps, future collaboration and the goals for each office will be held from 11 a.m. to noon. A light breakfast will be served.
