The Legal Aid Society Mourns The Death Of Steven Sindos

Steven Banks, Attorney-in-Chief, and Seymour James, Attorney-in-Charge of the Criminal Practice, sent out the following memorandum to the Staff of The Legal Aid Society:

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the sudden death of our colleague, Steve Sindos, a staff attorney in our Brooklyn Criminal Defense office. Steve was stricken with cardiac arrest this morning in court and later died at Brooklyn Hospital.

Our thoughts are with all of you at this difficult time, particularly those of you who have known and worked with Steve in the Brooklyn office.

Steve joined the Society in 1987 and worked in the Manhattan trial office until 1999 when he transferred to the Brooklyn office. He was an exceptional trial lawyer who had great concern for his clients. Steve was beloved by his colleagues and highly respected by colleagues, judges and court personnel.

We will advise you of the funeral arrangements as soon as we have the information.
