WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 06, 2013

The Legal Aid Society is pleased to announce that Philip T. (Pete) Ruegger will receive the Society’s Servant of Justice Award and Raymond J. McGuire will receive the Society’s Theodore Roosevelt Award at the 36th Annual Awards Dinner May 9, 2013, at the Waldorf=Astoria.

Pete Ruegger and Raymond J. McGuire will be honored with these Awards for their outstanding contributions to the Society and its clients and to the quest for equal justice.

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Society’s Civil Practice, which serves more than 100,000 vulnerable New Yorkers including senior citizens, children and adults with disabilities, survivors of domestic violence, immigrants, low-wage workers, persons living with HIV/AIDS, and homeless and imminently homeless children and adults. The awards dinner proceeds are crucial to enable the Society's front-line staff in all five boroughs to provide essential civil legal aid in the midst of these challenging times for the vulnerable low-income families and individuals we represent.
