Testimony Points Out Drastic Need for Civil Legal Representation

The Commission to Access Civil Legal Services held the First Department hearings today at which Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman heard testimony about the drastic need to increase resources for civil legal representation for low-income New Yorkers.

Participating in the hearings were Adriene Holder, Attorney-in-Charge of the Civil Practice; Stacy Snowden, a Legal Aid client; and Evan Hasbrook, a Staff Attorney in the Harlem Community Law Office. Ms. Snowden testified about the help she received at The Legal Aid Society from her lawyer Mr. Hasbrook. Sara Moss, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of The Estee Lauder Companies Inc., and a member of The Legal Aid Society Board of Directors, presented testimony.
