Supreme Court Ensured the Rights of Our LGBT Clients, Colleagues, Friends and Family
FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 2015

Today the Supreme Court held that both the Due Process and Equal Protection clauses of the United States Constitution require a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and to recognize marriages between two people of the same sex when the marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out of state.

The Legal Aid Society, whose staff fights to ensure the rights of all its clients all day, every day, is thrilled that the Supreme Court ensured the rights of our LGBT clients, colleagues, friends and family, as well as all of the LGBT communities, to marry the person they love in all 50 states! We will continue to fight for the rights of our LGBT clients to ensure they enjoy all the rights afforded to them under the Federal and State Constitutions. We congratulate all those who worked long and hard to accomplish this momentous event!
