Statement On President Trump’s Refusal To Denounce Hate Groups Involved In Charlottesville Attack
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16, 2017

The Legal Aid Society released the following statement today responding to President Donald Trump’s refusal to explicitly condemn Nazi and white supremacist groups following this weekend’s deadly racial unrest in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"President Donald Trump's refusal to denounce Neo-Nazis, the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacy groups who played a role in the Charlottesville tragedy is reprehensible and truly repugnant.

"This administration, in one way or another, has repeatedly sided with racism, transphobia, sexism and xenophobia over tenets of inclusion, tolerance and equality.

"We stand with our clients and other New Yorkers threatened by the President’s policies and sickened over the hatred he has empowered during his short time running for and occupying the White House. We will continue to lend a voice to the underserved and fight against injustice no matter the form.”
