Statement from Legal Aid’s Judith Goldiner on CB9 Land Use Committee Consideration of Proposed Plans for the Bedford Armory

Judith Goldiner, The Legal Aid Society’s Attorney-in-Charge of the Civil Law Reform Unit, released the following statement tonight responding to Brooklyn Community Board 9’s ULURP/Land Use Committee consideration of the proposed development plan for the Bedford Armory.

"Crown Heights is an affordable housing desert grappling with forces of gentrification and landlord harassment that compound issues of displacement and homelessness for local residents every day. This is why we need a development plan that will deliver a maximum number of affordable units at a percentage of AMI that serves the neediest Brooklyn families. We encourage the Community Board to only accept and approve a plan that fully reflects these important priorities."
