Plans To Charge Rent To Working Homeless Families Dropped

City and State officials announced on Friday that a plan to charge rent to working homeless families has been dropped. Steven Banks, Attorney-in-Chief of The Legal Aid Society, who had threatened legal action if necessary to stop the plan, called the announcement a "huge step forward." In speaking to the media, Banks said that "I think this was an experience in which we can all build on in other contexts. ... A common sense solution was arrived at." After the City Hall press conference, Banks told a reporter that "Like so many times in life, you need the moon, the sun, and the stars aligned."
