Lovely H. Settlement May Mean Millions in Cash Assistance and Food Stamps for 14,000

A proposed settlement in a federal class action lawsuit, Lovely H. v. Eggleston, will result in millions of dollars in cash assistance and food stamps benefits if approved by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The case was brought by the Legal Aid Society and Milbank on behalf of individuals with disabilities who were subjected to discriminatory practices under the prior administration. Judge Katherine B. Forrest will hold a hearing on October 31, 2014, to review the proposed settlement. The full proposed settlement agreement is posted here (Spanish translation here).
