Legal Aid Announces Settlement of Class Action Concerning Emergency Section 8 Transfer Vouchers
MONDAY, APRIL 21, 2014

The Legal Aid Society has announced a proposed settlement in a class action lawsuit concerning delays by the New York City Housing Authority in issuing emergency Section 8 transfer vouchers. In the lawsuit, Legal Aid alleged that the Housing Authority delayed issuing emergency transfer vouchers to tenants, sought irrelevant documents from tenants, refused to give hearings to tenants, and delayed inspecting or approving new apartments once tenants had received transfer vouchers. The parties have agreed to a settlement, which must be approved by the Court. Click here to read a notice about the settlement in English. | Haga click aqui para leer el aviso en Español.
