Legal Aid and LDF Advocate Amendment to Administrative Code Regarding Improper Police Conduct

Cynthia Conti-Cook, Staff Attorney in the Special Litigation Unit of the Criminal Practice, testified before the New York City Council's Committee on Oversight and Investigations supporting the local law to amend the administrative code of the City of New York and the New York City Chapter in regard to the evaluation of civil actions, claims, and complaints alleging improper police conduct.

They advocated improving the disciplining, training, and monitoring of police officers and other relevant operations, policies, programs and practices of the NYPD. A report on federal civil rights lawsuits against the NYPD is attached as well as the testimony.
