Legal Aid, Goodwin Proctor File Brief to Protect LGBTQ Employees From Discrimination
TUESDAY, JUNE 27, 2017

The Legal Aid Society and Goodwin Proctor filed an amicus brief in the 2nd Circuit today arguing that sexual orientation discrimination is a form of sex discrimination and therefore illegal under Title VII (the federal law prohibiting discrimination because of sex in employment). The 2nd Circuit is hearing the case en banc to address whether it will stand by or overrule precedents saying that sexual orientation discrimination is not sex discrimination and is not illegal.
