John Boston, Director of The Legal Aid Society's Prisoners' Rights Project, will be honored tomorrow by the Sylvia Rivera Law Project at the organization's Gala-Spectacular. John has advised the group on various prison matters over the last few years. The event will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Knitting Factory, 361 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn.
SRLP works to increase the political voice and visibility of low-income people and people of color who are transgender, intersex, or gender non-conforming. It also works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination or violence.
