Legal Aid Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

The Legal Aid Society celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a gala celebration at the Bronx Borough Hall. Two dance troupes from the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club in the Bronx presented amazing performances that produced two standing ovations from the audience which included elected officials, judges and members of the Society's staff.

Legal Aid President Theodore A. Levine welcomed the guests and Steven Banks, Attorney-in-Chief, served as master of ceremonies. Among the speakers were Assemblyman Peter M.Rivera, Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson, Council Members Carmen Arroyo and Melinda Katz, Bronx Supreme Court Administrative Judge Barry Salmon, and Legal Aid staff members Irma Camacho and David Ocasio. Irma is a paralegal in the Harlem Community Law Office of the Civil Practice and David is a staff attorney in the Bronx office of the Criminal Practice.
