Attorney-in-Chief Testifies before City Council on the Mayor's Preliminary Budget

Steven Banks, the Attorney-in-Chief, testified in a hearing before the New York City Council on March 14 regarding the Mayor's Fiscal Year 2009 Preliminary Budget and how it affects the Society. He focused on the funding needs for the Criminal and Civil Practices. During the past year, The Legal Aid Society provided civil, criminal and juvenile rights legal services in some 295,000 cases for low income families and individuals in all five boroughs of New York City.
