Transportation

All homeless students, including students who are disabled, who have been placed in temporary housing are exempt from age and distance requirements, and are eligible for free transportation as long as they are homeless. Homeless preschool students are entitled to transportation by Metrocard. Yellow bus service will be provided to homeless students in Grades K-6 whenever an appropriate route exists. If yellow bus transportation is not available or appropriate, homeless students are eligible for a full fare metrocard. Parents of children who are in grades Pre-K through 6 will receive metrocards in 14 day increments to take their children to and from school.
