There are two types of Social Security benefits: retirement benefits and disability benefits.
Within disability benefits, there are Social Security Disability benefits (SSD) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). If you are disabled and have left your job, you can get Social Security disability benefits (SSD). If you have no job because you can't work because you are disabled, you can get Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
To help us find what you are looking for, click on one of the topics below. If you are not sure which benefits program you are eligible for, you can click here to use the Social Security Benefit Eligibility Screening Tool (BEST). Remember, this is not an application for benefits, but rather a helpful tool to figure out what benefits (if any) you can get.
