The Earned Income Tax Credit ("EIC") is a refundable tax credit for low-income taxpayers who work. In recent years, the EIC accounted for about 50% of all individual income tax return examinations conducted by the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS"). Learn how to handle an EIC examination, including the substantive tax law involved in EIC claims and related matters such as filing status, dependency exemptions, the child tax credit, and the dependent care credit.

An Offer in Compromise ("OIC") is an agreement between a taxpayer and the IRS that settles a tax liability for less than the full amount owed.  Participants will learn the mechanics of making an offer, including the procedures for seeking relief, grounds for acceptance of an offer, and the standards used by the IRS in evaluating offers.
