Under the leadership of associates at leading New York law firms, The Legal Aid Society’s Associates’ Campaign raises awareness and vital funds for the Society’s Civil Practice which depends on private funding to provide legal assistance to the most vulnerable New Yorkers. In fact, individual gifts raised through this campaign account for nearly one-third of all individual contributions raised for our Civil Practice each year.
Since its inception in 1939, funds raised through this campaign have helped our Civil Practice provide unequaled access to justice for its clients, which include senior citizens, disabled and chronically-ill children and adults, survivors of domestic violence, unemployed workers, immigrants fleeing oppression, persons living with HIV/AIDS, low income wage earners, and homeless and imminently homeless children and adults.
Associates who begin their relationship with Legal Aid by contributing through the Associates’ Campaign continue to support our mission for years to come. In fact, some of our biggest volunteers and supporters, including many of our past and current board members, were introduced to Legal Aid by participating in this campaign.
We are proud of the exceptional accomplishments of the past participants of our Associates’ Campaigns, and we are always grateful for the unwavering support of the New York legal community as a whole. Of course, there is always more work to be done, and more clients in desperate need of our help. In fact, while our Civil Practice handled over 32,000 matters last year alone, we are still only able to help 1 out of every 7 individuals who come to us for help. Your support can make all the difference.
We hope that you will join us for the 2008 Associates’ Campaign.
