Major Purpose of Position

There is an immediate opening for a part time arraignment attorney in the New York County office of the Criminal Defense Practice who will work three shifts (2 nights and Sunday day) per week.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • An arraignment attorney arraigns clients in misdemeanor cases and concentrates on "disposable" cases.

Secondary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Training And Qualifications

  • Must be reliable and able to work closely with court personnel while also zealously advocating for clients.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of Criminal Procedure Law provisions relating to the arraignment process and Criminal Court practice, of the Penal Law Sections pertaining to misdemeanors and violations, and of the possible civil and administrative collateral sanctions arising from misdemeanor and/or violation convictions.
  • Fluency in Spanish is helpful, but not required.
