John Boston, the Director of The Legal Aid Society's Prisoners' Rights Project, appeared on the Today Show July 17 about prisoners' right to free speech. John, a nationally recognized legal expert who has championed the cause of humane and constitutional conditions of confinement for prisoners for many years, has most recently been quoted in the Los Angeles Times on the free speech issue.
The Legal Aid Society has created a Pro Bono Practice Newsletter. It contains stories on important affirmative litigation cases and pro bono projects that provide representation to clients in the Civil, Criminal and Juvenile Rights Practices. The pro bono achievements cited in the newsletter are an acknowledgement of the outstanding partnership between the private bar and the Society and its staff.
United States District Judge Harold Baer, Jr., has ruled that a court order protecting vulnerable City jail prisoners from heat stroke and other heat-related ailments must stay in place for another summer.
